May 19-21: Get in the Game & Visit with
Washington, D.C. [Mar. 12, 2008]—With a battle expected over this year's transportation appropriations bill, uncertainty about the future solvency of the Highway Trust Fund, a stalled aviation reauthorization bill, and a spirited debate expected on the upcoming 2009 highway/transit investment bill, transportation design and construction executives have a host of urgent reasons to come to Nation's Capital and share their views with members of Congress during the May 19-20 American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) “Federal Issues Program.” Policy discussions about the reauthorizations of SAFETEA-LU and VISION 100 (airport construction program) will be at the forefront during the ARTBA Board of Directors, Committee and Division meetings. Top ARTBA staff will provide a legislative and regulatory update, transportation construction market report, and training to help get industry firms and their employees more involved at the grassroots level. Major decision makers at the Federal Highway Administration will be on hand and meet with ARTBA members to share ideas and directly exchange viewpoints. Ron Brownstein, a top political and policy columnist for “The National Journal” and “Los Angeles Times,” will also share his insights about the 2008 presidential race and how transportation policy might fit into the overall debate. The ARTBA program is being held in conjunction with the Transportation Construction Coalition Washington Fly-In, which begins in the afternoon of May 20 and continues May 21. To view the program and register online, visit www.artbafederalissues.org. Room reservations can be made by calling the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill at 1-800-233-1234. Be sure to mention the “ARTBA Federal Issues Program” to receive the discounted $285 per night room rate. ### Established in 1902, ARTBA represents the U.S. transportation design and construction industry before Congress, the Executive Branch, federal agencies, news media and general public.
